The steps for Emotional Integration are as follows: 1. Willingness-Choice to feel and see the emotion 2. Awareness and identification of the emotion without judgement 3. Appreciation gratitude for the emotion 4. Listening/analysis/receiving of the emotion without ‘trying to make it change’ 5. Allowing/integration ‘sitting’ with the feeling and letting it be as it is 1) Be willing to take these steps. Make a choice that you’re going to consciously engage in this process the best you know how. 2) Be aware of the feeling. Sometimes it helps to give it a name. “I feel anger. I feel confused.” And so forth. There is no need to judge. You are simply labeling the feeling so you can clearly identify it. 3) Appreciate the feeling and thank it for showing up. This is challenging for some at first, but consider this: The feeling is a signal. Very much like a nerve on your body telling your brain that ‘something is up.’ Thank this feeling, thank this signal for working properly so that you can explore what it is signaling to you. 4) Sit with the feeling and listen to its message. You can use meditation, writing, sitting, whatever helps you clear your mind and focus on the feeling and receiving the message. Remember, you’re not trying to change the feeling. You’re allowing it to be as it is. 5) Allow the feeling to be as it is, until it shifts naturally. Remember, you’re not trying to change the feeling. All that is necessary is to allow the feeling to be as it is without judgement from a place of observation. In doing this, the feeling will naturally communicate and transmute, without you forcing it to change. Because you do not resist how you feel, you remain grounded, even if you experience great pain. The feeling will either shift immediately, or you will feel a sense of allowing things to be as they are.
