(Parallel realities and the quantum jump into an alternate self)

My meditation practice shifted to focus on these parallel realities, and the idea that every single infinite version of yourself exists. That if you want to get out of a situation, you have to access the alternate version of yourself that has done so.

I came out of the meditation crying and changed forever. I wanted to share it with someone. I wanted to tell people, but who would believe me? It could have just as easily been my imagination and nothing more. Sometimes I still wonder if I created that vision in order to transform myself. I cannot fully know.

In other words, you can choose the reality you want to exist in because that reality always exists, whether you are observing it or not.

You are not stuck. Your future is not determined by chaos. You have a choice, and each choice you make is important. Each decision not only affects the way you move along your highway, but also whether or not you remain on the highway upon which you are currently traveling.

“This is not the real reality. The real reality is behind the curtain. In truth, we are not here. This is our shadow.” —Rumi

The key to effective moving quantum jumps is to let go of your past. As long as you carry with you everything that you are, defined by your past, you’ll be limited to what you can have in the future.

Five Rites routine (also known as the Five Tibetan Rites or Five Tibetans) is used to build up the energy necessary to perform a quantum jump into a new reality. This is a very popular routine of exercises. I was first exposed to it by the wonderful science fiction writer Steven Barnes. Vadim Zeland also does this exercise and gives advice related to its application in his book Apocryphal Transurfing.

(Purpose as ongoing discovery, not a single destination)

Your assignment on this Earth is not just one event in the distant future that you hope you’ll reach one day. We are in a continuous timeline of events that are constantly unfolding before us, and we are being propelled, moment by moment, on a timeline. Life-altering moments are going to happen. Bigger pieces of the puzzle will be revealed from time to time. The key is constant discovery. As you follow your vision as it develops over time, you will encounter destiny in big and small ways. The universe will begin to talk to you through coincidence and synchronicities, and your purpose will begin to take shape. It is the path that you travel, not the place where you arrive. Do not tie your journey up into one thing. Allow the discovery of your purpose to be ongoing and adaptable. Along the way, watch out for things that can pull you away from your journey.

Procrastination Procrastination is a deadly disease that permeates the world we live in. Quite simply, the reason you procrastinate from day to day is because those tasks don’t mean enough to you. The reason you just go through the motions in life is because you aren’t aiming at anything worth the effort. In other words, procrastination is a sign that you’re not on the right path. We like to complicate things like this, but it’s quite simple. Ninety percent of the time, when someone comes to me struggling with procrastination, some kind of social media or online addiction has them distracted.

Fear of Failure Fear is a killer, and the fear of failure might be the strongest of them all. I think that, in an alternate timeline where nothing had happened to make me question my mortality, the fear of failure would have dominated my life. We are so afraid of failure that we often let it keep us from taking action at all. I have friends who are geniuses but have never submitted their books or stepped out into the audition because they are afraid of failing or being embarrassed. We don’t want to do things because there is some small chance that we will fail. The catch is that you probably will, but that it’s a good thing. Every successful person has built a mountain of failures. Failing is a wonderful part of your journey.

The goal is to eliminate what’s holding us back and seek out what will propel us into the future that we want. Design the life that you want. Look for the opportunities that align with your purpose and your passion. And begin to maneuver into the reality that maximizes it all.

Journaling Prompts What am I willing to put up with? People who have found their purpose are often people who were willing to put up with a lot of less-than-ideal situations. Life is not going to be rosy and wonderful, even when you’re aligned with a purpose. Sometimes you have to work hard. Sometimes there is a sacrifice—some sort of cost or struggle—that you’ll have to face. Knowing this at the onset can help you to narrow down your purpose. For example, if you want to be a tech entrepreneur but you can’t handle failure, you’re not going to make it very far. On the other hand, if you’re willing to work eighteen-hour days for a couple of months to get your book written or your software complete and that sacrifice seems worth it to you, then you’ll start moving closer to your purpose. What would a younger me think about me now? Often, the wisest version of ourselves was when we were seven years old. Ask that kid what they think. After all, this is the life that your younger self wound up living. What would they say about it? Creating that perspective can give you some good answers about who you are and where you’re going. (Science fiction writer Steven Barnes uses this technique every morning upon awakening.) What can you do to help the world? Wanting the new Lamborghini or that perfect mansion is understandable and fine, but thinking outside of yourself is often transformative in a way that wanting things can never be. When you really find your purpose—when everything starts to make sense—it’s often when you’re thinking about how you can help other people with your talents and skills. Your heart will line up with your mind and soul in many ways.

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, how would you want to be remembered? It’s okay to think of purpose as how you want to be remembered. That sounds like a contradiction against not worrying about embarrassment, but it’s not. The difference is that when we have found our purpose, we control the way we are remembered. We decide how we are perceived by the world. Whether or not they like it is up to them—the important thing is that you’ve done what you loved to do.

(Radical contentment with money and the law of flow)

This kind of radical contentment is a difficult emotion to hold. It’s hard to love money without wanting more of it, and it becomes almost impossible to avoid a dependent relationship. Vadim Zeland says, “All one can do is attempt to limit the aspect of dependency to a minimum. Be happy if money has come to you, but never kill yourself worrying about not having enough money, or spending it, otherwise, you will have less and less of it.”

Write a letter to the universe. Tell the universe everything you want, without shame. Create the world that you want, and make it specific. Put that letter somewhere that you can’t access it regularly, then come back to it in three to six months. You’ll be amazed at what communication with the universe can accomplish. Respect the law of flow. If you hold your money in, it will never come back to you. It’s okay to spend without feeling guilty. Something that I like to do in a group or a seminar is to take a ten-dollar bill out and have someone offer their services for that cash. Then they do the same, and you watch as it flows around the room. If you could watch the money that you spend flow, you could see the propulsive power that it has, and you could trust that eventually it will come back to you.

Get uncomfortable. If I were to choose a common trait in the people I know who have become rich, it’s that they do the things that make them uncomfortable. Lean in to hard things for short periods of time.

Astral projection is not only a real technique, but it is something that you can train yourself to do. It teaches you to become attuned to your own energy body and to switch bodies as well. If you’re interested, Bruce Mercer’s Mastering Astral Travel Projection is extraordinary.

Until then, in Becoming Supernatural, Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about creating mind movies. The Mind Movie app allows you to create playlists and combinations of videos that become a way to immerse in your vision. You can also find mind movies that other people have created on YouTube.

(Death as the teacher: live the legacy now)

Life is short. You are not promised anything tomorrow or next month or next year. If it were to all end tomorrow, have you lived the life that you wanted? Instead of settling, consider this a message from your future self: When your heart stops, don’t let that be a mere formality. Start each day knowing that it will all be over eventually. The future is incredible, but your days are numbered. Don’t fear death—cherish life. Death is the best invention of life. We’re all going to die, so there’s no reason not to follow your heart. To go after your dreams, and to do it with passion. Choose kindness over being right. Choose the hard task instead of the easy one. Release your fears of rejection. Stand up more. Love more. Live your legacy more.

Aim to be extraordinary. You are extraordinary. You are infinite. Go the extra mile. One more rep. One more second. One more stretch outside of your comfort zone. Be willing to fail. Get rid of negative people in your life, but be the person that others can depend on. Depend on yourself. Be known by your actions. Wake up and choose to become kindhearted, and to experience kindheartedness. Stop complaining and start loving. Stay uncomfortable. Do the spontaneous thing. Do the things you’re afraid of. Don’t just think positively, but actually become the embodiment of the person you want to be. If you want to harness the power of the universe, you must be willing to change your thoughts. To change your ways of being. You’re a perfect reflection of the choices that you’ve made, so make better choices. Believe in miracles. Believe in kindness. Believe that great people are coming into your life, there’s nothing you cannot do, you cannot have, you cannot be. Don’t believe in luck—believe in the power of your thoughts. Believe anything is possible. Because it is.
